About Us

Warren County has a total area of 619 square miles, of which 589 square miles is land and 30 square miles is water. The county exists in two sections, connected only by a narrow 500ft wide section between Madison Parish, Louisiana and Issaquena County, Mississippi along the delta of the Yazoo River. This area was oncle along the Mississippi River but has since become an oxbow lake and marsh with no roads traversing this strip of land.

Historically, a group of citizens concerned with protecting their homes and community against the ravages of fire formed the first volunteer fire department in the county.  Five more departments were established in the surrounding communities and ran independently from each other. In early 2021, the fire chiefs of each department along with the county fire coordinator, Jerry Briggs, met to discuss the alarming low number of active members each district were facing. In an effort to alleviate this problem to best meet the needs of the citizens Warren County Fire Services was formed, a collaborative effort to form a single fire department across the entire county.

WCFS is managed by an elected executive committee comprised of a representative from each fire district across the county.
